A colorful representation of the word books

I have a lot of friends on social media sharing their reading goals using Goodreads mostly, but others use their own ways of tracking on paper and even a spreadsheet. I’ve utilized the three tracking methods below, but still struggle setting, documenting and sharing my goals. I found paper journals, spreadsheets, and the app Goodreads have benefits for using. Each one being unique and the preference for the reader.

Paper Journal

I’ve tried the classic routes: basic notebooks, note cards, and even loose-leaf paper tucked neatly in a binder. While they get the job done, I always felt like something was missing. Then I came across this journal from Amazon Basics. The quality is great, and it holds up well to the wear and tear of being tossed around in a backpack. Not only does it help me track my reading goals, but it’s become the perfect space for jotting down key points and useful bits of knowledge that pop up along the way.

Spreadsheet

Tracking your reading goals in a spreadsheet keeps everything organized, from your to-be-read list to completed books. It helps you stay motivated, spot trends in your reading habits, and even track favorite quotes or insights. Plus, with cloud access, you can easily update your list anytime and everywhere.

Goodreads

My friends use the Goodreads app to track their reading goals, and I love seeing what they’re diving into. It’s a great way to swap recommendations and find my next great read. Launched in 2007, Goodreads has grown into the world’s biggest book-loving community—because reading is more fun when we can share it!
